The Nike+ SportsWatch GPS – Spurring you on to be a ‘Goddess of Victory’.
If you were asked to think of a sportswear and equipment manufacturer, Nike would immediately spring to mind, shortly followed perhaps by Adidas and Puma.
Since the company was founded in 1964 and officially became Nike Inc in 1978, it has become one of the most celebrated sportswear companies in the world, globally renowned for producing top-quality sportswear.
Given its global notoriety, it is of little wonder that the American company had a revenue in the excess of $18.6 billion in the fiscal year of 2008. With a prolific amount of GPS sports watches saturating the market at the moment, trust the company which name ‘Nike’, means the Greek Goddess of Victory, to create a corker.
Teaming up with TomTom, also a world leader of its niche – producing GPS mapping systems – Nike have launched the Nike+ SportWatch GPS, aimed at providing runners with the perfect digital performance coach.
This state-of-the-art watch, which with its sleek and stylish yellow and black design typifies Nikes’ commitment to producing sports gear you can pose with, boasts just three simple buttons.
Not only will the watch inform you about local information as you run, whilst mapping your distance, pace, time and calories burnt, but the GPS receiver also works in-conjunction with the optional Nike-in-shoe accelerometer sensor, which provides runners with live distance and pace data as they run.
Similar to the traits of the real-life coach, the Nike+SportsWatch GPS won’t let its runners’ periods of inactivity last too long, as it will give you reminders if you have not logged a run in five days. Although, unlike many real-life coaches, whose attitudes are often “kill, kill, kill”, this digital coach will give you post-run acknowledgement and encouragement.
Through the Nike+Connect USB interface, owners of the Nike= SportsWatch will be plugged into Nikeplus.com, which will keep you in touch with fellow Nike runners from around the world – and let’s be honest, Nike runners have always had a tendency to stick together, showing off their trendy gear in groups!
This ‘perfect digital coach’ costs £179 and can be purchased at nikestore.com
