The effects of Magnetic Field Therapy, sometimes referred to as Pulsed Magnetic Therapy, has on people suffering from multiple sclerosis (ME), are being progressively more researched, and there is a growing body of evidence that suggests pulsed electromagnetic fields show a broad range of benefits to multiple sclerosis sufferers, without generating any adverse reactions.
One such research which reports the case of a 55-year-old female patient of chronic progressive multiple sclerosis, who underwent a Magnetic Field treatment of a low 5-Hz frequency, which lasted just 20 minutes.
According to the report, the treatment of magnetic Field Therapy for multiple sclerosis had rapidly led to improvements within the patient, including better sleep, improved vision, more controlled bladder functions, enhanced moods, and improved movement and speech.
This case became one of four cases which were published by R. Sandyk in a paper entitled ‘Rapid Normalization of Visual Evoked Potentials pico Tesla Range Magnetic Fields in Chronic Progressive Multiple Sclerosis’, which was published in the International Journal of Neurosis.
The paper described a further three similar cases, in which patients suffering from chronic multiple sclerosis had reported improved symptoms after receiving a single external application of low magnetic field treatments.
Whilst there is no known medical cure for multiple sclerosis, these sstudies have found electromagnetic fields are a promising alternative approach to treating the condition, is resulting in a growing number of multiple sclerosis patients opting to try this form of treatment.
Another study that found a correlation between using Magnetic Field Therapy and increasing the function of the pineal gland and thereby improving ME symptoms, was a study carried out by Lindsey Groem, GTB, entitled ‘Biomagnetic Research Protocol for Sacroiliac Pain Reduction’.

The anti-aging industry is a multi-billion dollar industry in which there are literally thousands of products available all promising eternal youth. Although unfortunately, as Rod Stewart once wrote in a song, “Youth’s a mask and it won’t last,” our skin takes a huge strain as the inevitable signs of aging creep up on all of us and there is very little we can do to stop it.
Although enough of this doom and gloom, we all want to look as young as possible right? And if you are tired of spending the best part of $100 on a face cream that has had no greater affect than a $5 one, you may be interested in hearing about magnetic therapy for aging skin.
According to Reiki practitioner, Jennifer Hogenkamp, magnets have shown to have various beneficial effects on the skin, such as restoring its natural tone and colour.
On her website, the Reiki practitioner talks about how environmental factors effects and damages the skin cells. A greater level of skin cell activity, including getting tissue fluids flowing again, regulating edema and congestion, decreasing the inflammation of cells, removing waste products, and reverting cell metabolism back to normal levels, can be achieved through magnetic therapy.
In simpler terms, magnetic therapy for aging skin, according to Jennifer Hogenkamp, “Opens the way for proper nutrients that were not getting to the cells,” and by doing so, “Has a positive effects on regenerating skin cells and smoothing lines, reducing inflammation (acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis treatments) or detoxifying”.
Asides promoting a greater number of nutrients to the skin and thereby helping to combat signs of aging, Ms Hogenkamp also informs that as magnetic energy produces the sleep hormone melatonin, of which high levels are necessary for adequate sleep, magnetic forms of therapy, such as wearing magnetic bracelets, can help us have a better night’s sleep – and we all know that ‘adequate sleep’ is a golden rule in our quest for beauty and youthful looking skin.

We’ve all heard that magnetic bracelets can help overcome pain and act as an effective alternative treatment to various health conditions, but knowing what types of pain magnetic bracelets can help target and eliminate is a little more ambiguous.
To help you get a clearer picture about Magnetic bracelet therapy and what type of pain and ailments magnetic bracelets can treat, below is an overview on what the top three health conditions magnetic bracelets are widely used for to help reduce the pain.
Magnetic bracelets for arthritis
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 46 million U.S. citizens suffer from pains in their joints caused by arthritis, and that almost 90% of sufferers seek pain through alternative treatments.
As magnets produce energy fields and polarity, bracelets designed with static magnetic properties, can help alleviate joint pain, and therefore magnetic bracelet therapy continue to be a popular alternative treatment for the pain caused by arthritis.
Magnetic bracelets for back pain
Back pain is extremely common, in fact as many as one in five people will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. Given the rifeness of back conditions, there are a huge number of people seeking pain relief from back conditions through alternative treatments.
As magnetic bracelets increase the blood circulation and expand capillaries, a greater volume of blood can reach the cells of the body. Improved blood circulation is believed to help remove painful waste products from muscles and increase the oxygenation to painful cells, which makes Magnetic bracelet therapy a favourable option form many in alleviating the pain of some forms of oxygen deprivation back pain.

Whilst a small carbohydrate-rich snack eaten half an hour prior to a work out can sit well in the stomach and be converted into energy, exercising with a belly-full of food rattling about is not advisable. Whilst exercising on a full stomach can seriously hamper the quality of a workout, there are certain foods that will cause more damage to the value of the workout than others.
Take a look at five foods to definitely avoid before a workout.
Chips
Whilst potatoes are high in carbohydrates and therefore provide energy, food fried deep in fat is guaranteed to make you feel sluggish and slow you down. Not only would eating a plate of chips inevitably impede your workout by slowing you down, but it would be likely to give you a stitch, and, according to the Mayo Clinic, cause you to feel bloated.
Vegetable and salads
Light and nutritious food such as salad and vegetables may sound like the perfect thing to eat before a workout. Although on the contrary, as the Mayo Clinic states, high-fibre foods, including broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and lettuce, are some of the most common causes of flatulence and gastrointestinal discomfort, which is likely to disrupt a workout.
Fruit juice
Drinking fruit juice before exercise may not sound like much of a crime, but sugary drinks, such as fruit juice, can bring on diarrhoea and other stomach upsets, thwarting the quality of a training session. Asides causing stomach upsets, sugary drinks may provide a quick energy fix but they do not provide sustained energy. It is advised to stick to drinking just water before, during and after a workout.

By now we’ve all heard of Pilates, we’ve all heard of Bikram Yoga and we’ve all heard of Zumba Fitness, but have you heard of Bokwa Fitness?
What is Bokwa fitness? This new and up and coming fitness programme is based around dance routines to enhance cardio respiratory endurance, muscular strength and flexibility and suppleness.
Bokwa was established in 2000 by Paul Mavi, who wanted to integrate his passion for his South Africa roots into a dance and fitness routine. In doing so, Paul Mavi created a fun alternative to exercise classes. Its name ‘Bokwa’ is derived from a combination of “Bo”, light South African boxing, and “KWA”, taken from the cultural and traditional ‘Kwaito’ dance.
Through the pulsating rhythmic beats of Latin, African, House Music and Dance Music, this fitness class is lively, electrifying, adrenaline-charged and energetic, meaning Bokwa Fitness offers a challenging yet rewarding fitness regime, which provides effective results quickly.
Not only does this emerging fitness trend grant effective weight loss and increases levels of fitness proficiently, but, being a cardio activity, helps to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
Another unique and novel twist of this increasingly popular fitness activity is that it is the only exercise programme which is taught with American Hand Sign Language, meaning that it is a realistic fitness class for those with impaired hearing.
Asides being a fun way to workout, keeping people fit, helping them to burn calories and lose weight, and help prevent diseases and disabilities, it is Bokwa’s mission to educate dance and fitness professionals in both theoretical and practical applications.
