Being almost wickedly sweet, how can sticky, gooey, runny honey be good for us? Well despite its sweetness and sticky texture, honey is good for us, extremely good for us, but in what ways? Take a look at the health benefits of honey below.
Honey can help build up our immune systems
Do you ever remember your Grandma telling you to have honey and lemon when you had a cold? Well there is actually a valid purpose behind such a traditional, antiquated and natural medicine.
Because honey is a powerful antioxidant and contains many anti-bacterial properties, it acts as a cleanser to the system, building our immune systems and making us less vulnerable to coughs, colds and other diseases. It can also help improve our digestive systems, making us less susceptible to stomach upsets.
Honey is a great energy booster
Not only is honey a good natural source of carbohydrates which helps to give our bodies strength and energy, but it is also contain high levels of natural sugars.
Mention the word sugar and we tend to immediately think of all its badness, but the natural sugar found in honey can play an important part in lifting energy levels for prolonged periods and not just temporarily like artificial forms of sugar, and in doing so, can help prevent fatigue emerging when we are exercising.
Not only this but the glucose found in honey is absorbed by our bodies at a fairly rapid rate, meaning we receive an almost instant energy boost. Whilst the fructose found in honey is absorbed by the body more slowly providing a more sustained energy release.
Honey has powerful anti-cancer properties
There are certain ‘super foods’ that contain anti-cancerous properties, and honey happens to be one of them. Honey contains a substance known as carcinogen, which is known for preventing tumours.
According to a book written by Dr Ron Fessenden, entitled ‘The Honey Revolution’, honey contains floral flavonoids, which are powerful antioxidants, which, once ingested, immediately increase antioxidant levels within the cells, and by doing so, ‘decreases capillary permeability and fragility.’
Sweet!

The health benefits of walking are multiple. It is widely acknowledged in the world of medicine that regular walkers are slimmer, live longer, have less incidents of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer and are less prone to having mental health problems.
In fact the health benefits of walking are clear; walking is one of the best natural and not to mention free forms of exercise to help you stay in control of your weight, health and help to keep you happy.
These are the more obvious health benefits of walking. But did you know that walking can be a great way of increasing bone mass and making bones stronger?
Traditionally health and fitness experts have recommended that to increase bone mass, we perform regular high-impact aerobic exercise. According to a published review on 24 studies of aerobic exercise and the bone density mineral in women, walking for as little as half an hour several days a week can significantly increase our overall bone density.
The results of the research, which was carried out by the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Boston, were published in ‘The American Public Health Association’.
The study involved analysing the bone mass of women who led predominantly sedentary lifestyles by who were asked to do an aerobic exercise program that lasted for 16 weeks. Walking was the chosen method of exercise for most of the participants and the results showed that the women, following the 16-week program, had increased their bone mass by two percent.
According to the American Council on Exercise, exercise helps to strengthen bones because it forces people to bear weight, which is why high-impact exercise elicits even greater gains in bone density.
The fact that walking can help strengthen our bones, as well as providing us with a wealth of other health benefits, is encouraging for people who find other aerobic exercise, such as running or swimming, difficult.
If you really want to give your performance a boost, you should consider the benefits of a magnetic therapy bracelet from Trion:Z. You can buy one here.

What and who inspired you to become interested in fitness and holistic health?
When I came to London I decided to improve my skill in Dance, using “Pineapple” Studio in coven garden, and “Dance Work” in bond street about 3 time a week, I loved it, my dance teacher was great, my main style of dance was Street dance and Jazz.
Then I decided I wanted to teach Dance, but then very slowly I was getting fitter and fitter and started enjoying aerobic classes in the gym, its only then it occurred to me I really like Fitness and everything with it. My passion for fitness is complemented by my love of art, dancing, and choreography.
Bespoke fitness is one of the fastest growing health trends in town, but how do you compare what you do with others?
What you provide to your clients must be different, so by creating “Fred Ferge Fitness with style”, I wanted to get a much personal approach to Fitness compared to “Virgin” and “Fitness First”.
My approach to fitness & holistic training, combine a life change solution for clients. My vision aspires to transform our community by helping individual’s to live healthier lives.
I aspire to teach people strategies to deal with their stress themselves and that healing and feeling comes from within, so this is not just about exercise only we must combine it with a much personal approach.
Combining both by really trying to understand each client’s situation from the time they wake up in the morning.
In what ways does your fitness studio combine fitness and holistic health?
Posture: by understanding how the bodywork, improves, increase flexibility and balance, promotes inner healing and well being.
Revive: by improving strength and Core.
Relax: by easing muscular pain through aromatherapy or Sport massage and then Restore to a new you. “Keep an Active mind, Combine Mind & Body, Improve Strength & Core Muscle” That’s the way I see it…
Have you ever used, or would consider using magnetic therapy to improve health, fitness and wellbeing?
I am completely open for anything new; the beauty of our industry is there is a lot of recherché and new solutions, new technique, and equipment it just keep improving and it’s great.
Your London fitness centre has an emphasis on group exercising. In what ways can exercising in groups be more effective than exercising alone?
This can be a great way to motivate some clients, knowing they can be push with others people at the same time.
You are in great shape yourself? What does a typical day’s diet consist of?
After 7 to 8 hours sleep:

Perhaps one of the lesser known reported benefits of magnetic therapy is the claim that this form of alternative therapy can help to treat hair loss. Not only this, but magnetic therapy has also been associated with restoring the colour of one’s hair.
We explore how magnetic therapy can be used to treat hair loss and to improve the general look and condition of your hair.
According to Top Hair Loss Remedy, in moving electrons and ionizing oxygen atoms within the blood, a magnetic field restores our blood flow to a normal pH, and in doing so, improves the circulation of our blood.
Whilst the benefits of magnetic therapy are dismissed by many through a so-called lack of scientific evidence, it is commonly agreed in the world of medicine and hairdressing, that good blood circulation helps to keep the scalp healthy and the hair strong. In fact, the lack of blood flow to the hair follicles results in under-nourished and unhealthy hair with weak roots, which are susceptible to falling out.
In this sense, many, such as Dr. Shapiro’s Hair Institute, insist that poor blood circulation can be responsible for sever hair loss and even baldness.
“Your hair will shrink and die if it does not receive an adequate amount of blood, nutrients, lymph and oxygen,” says hair loss expert Dr. Shapiro.
“Blood reduction to the scalp can also occur due to high stress which causes muscles to tighten. This reduces the blood flow to the extremities of the human body such as head, feet and hands. The capillaries that feed the hair roots and follicles become constricted, which prevents the flow of blood,” continues Dr. Shapiro.

Whilst the actual medical benefits of magnetic therapy remain relatively contested and ambiguous, one of the less disputed advantages of using magnetic forms of therapy as a means of combating pain is that they cause no unwanted side effects.
With common painkillers such as aspirin and paracetamol (which are among the most widely used painkillers in the world), there has been a whole host of associated side effects reported. We explore some of the most common and rare aspirin side effects.
Gastrointestinal irritation
According to Side Effects forum, common aspirin side effects are primarily related to anti-platelet effects. Gastrointestinal irritation, such as gastric ulcers and gastritis, which can lead to nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and vomiting, are commonly reported as aspirin side effects.
Aspirin allergy
Allergies of aspirin are fairly common and while milder effects of an allergy of aspirin’s include symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness and even vomiting, other more serious allergic side effects include bronchospasm, angioedema and anaphylaxis.
Tinnitus
Tinnitus, whereby sufferers have a perception of noise within their ears in the absence of any actual external sound, is an uncommon yet known side effect of taking aspirin.
