Get your chocolate fix and retain diet goals – ‘Healthy’ chocolate bars in the form of dairy free chocolate. We all know that eating chocolate is one of the biggest sins a dieter can make. Although because this delicious, dark, creamy snack is so hugely enticing, it can often be the perpetrator in making our diets go haywire.
If you are finding it difficult to diet without giving into the prevailing charms of chocolate than you’ll be pleased to know that it’s not all bad news and that you can actually satisfy your chocolate cravings and retain your target weight loss goals.
Dairy products contain calcium, which is good for strengthening bones and teeth and while babies and children require plenty of dairy to help grow strong and healthy bones and teeth, adults require considerably less dairy, as a diet too reliant on dairy produce can easily result in weight gain.
Therefore whilst a certain amount of dairy in a diet is good for one’s health, the dairy found in chocolate can be a big sinner in helping to expand our waistlines – The alternative? Opt for dairy free chocolate.
Milk chocolate, which contains dairy products, refined sugar, milk fats and quite possibly lard or hydrogenated oils, is by far the least healthy and most fattening type of chocolate.
Dairy free chocolate and unsweetened dark chocolate are the healthiest and least fattening chocolate for you, as not only does it contain the least amount of calories but it also bursting with antioxidants ready to zap the toxins from the body!
Whilst it’s significantly less healthy sibling, milk chocolate, is not only lagging well behind in the health stakes by containing considerably more calories than its non-dairy counterparts, but as dairy products block the absorption of the many antioxidants found naturally in raw cocoa powder, its nutritional value is considerably poorer.
The net result – If you are on a diet and a lack of chocolate is causing pain and misery, opt for dairy free chocolate options, although similar to all types of food and successful dieting, moderation and balance is the key.
