With the prolific rise of magnetic therapy during the last 20 years or so, magnetic device manufacturers have been busy developing new and innovative magnetic instruments designed to target practically every area of the body.
As a consequence of the increased demand for magnetic treatments, there are various types, strengths and sizes of magnets available, some of which can be administered by individual themselves and others which must be applied and controlled by a health professional.
If you are unsure about what kind of magnets are typically used in magnetic therapy, take a look at three different types of magnets that are commonly used in magnetic therapy.
Neodymium Magnets
What have been referred to as being the ‘king’ of magnets, neodymium magnets are extremely powerful and comprise of three metals – neodymium, which is a rare earth metal, ferrite and boron.
Neodymium magnets are commonly used to treat soft tissue damage on areas such as the knees, shoulders, hip and back. The best quality neodymium magnets have a surface gauss of 1,200 and a core rating gauss of 12,300 and are known to hold their magnetic fields for up to 15 years.
Flexible magnets
Whilst they are much lower in their magnetic strength, having an approximate 2,750 gauss rating, because flexible magnets are, as their name suggests, extremely flexible, they are typically used on the toes, finger, wrists and ankles, areas where less penetration but greater flexibility is required.

One in five adults suffer from back problems at some point in their lives. Despite being so common, sufferers of back problems can be in extreme pain, unable to move with the freedom they were once used to, and desperate to find pain relief and a cure.
The typical causes of back pain range from lifting heavy objects, a sports injury, an accident such as a fall, bad posture, malformation of the bones, degenerative disease, or simply old age.
Doctors diagnose the root of the pain by examining whether the problem is muscular, nerve or skeletal related and prescribe a treatment that is most compatible in treating what is causing the back pain.
Whilst the most common treatments for back pain are drugs, physiotherapy and, in severe cases, surgery, magnetic therapy is becoming an increasingly popular method to effectively treat pain problems.
The two most common back pain magnetic treatments are Back Wraps and Dot Neodymium Magnets.
The Back Wrap
The Back Wrap is particularly effective for lower back pain. The wrap simply fits around the lower back and fastens with a Velcro strap. It can be worn for prolonged periods of time, even whilst the patient is asleep. Not only does the Back Wrap provide lumbar support and comfort, but the powerful magnets inside the wrap increase the flow of blood to the painful areas, and many back sufferers who have worn Back Wraps claim that pain has been significantly reduced since they started to wear the device.
On the Trion:Z website, you can buy a Colantotte Waist Belt, a good choice of magnetic therapy for back relief, The waist belt is designed specifically to focus the magnetic technology on areas around the waist, hips and lower back.

Magnetic therapy has long been associated with healing a whole host of health aliments, illnesses and diseases. From sports injuries, tennis elbow, arthritis, insomnia and many more aches, pains and conditions, utilizing the unique benefits magnetic fields can have on the body have been exploited for centuries.
Although using magnets for health and improving general feelings of wellbeing, such as increasing energy levels, is not as commonly associated with magnetic therapy.
On the contrary, exploiting the powerful healing capabilities of magnets, can leave even the healthiest of individuals looking better, feeling better, and even living longer.
With the Earth generating magnetism and the changes in the weather causing magnetism, it is a fact of science that we are surrounded by magnetic fields.
Asides the natural magnetism geography and nature provide, modern devices and gadgets that we are exposed to every day, such as computers, televisions, microwaves and office equipment, intensify the severity of the magnetic fields we are exposed to.
The human body itself produces magnetic fields which are generated by chemical reactions between the ionic currents in the nervous system and the cells.
According to many health experts and researchers, we can off-set the adverse magnetic changes the climate, technology, nature and our bodies expose us to with the use of magnetic therapy.

Magnetic field therapy – A viable method to treat epilepsy? Magnetic field therapy is almost as old as civilisation itself. For centuries cultures have been utilising the benefits that tiny, pulsed electromagnetic fields can bring to one’s health.
Magnetic therapy and Epilepsy – Amongst the multiple health benefits of magnetic therapy is how these pulsed electromagnetic fields can help to reduce epilepsy without there being any reported side effects thus far.
In the late-1980s Professor Anninos discovered that the brain waves of people with epilepsy were different to those without the condition.
Professor Anninos created an extremely accurate way to measure these abnormal brain waves and developed a low intensity magnetic field therapy device.
Not only has Professor Anninos’s custom tuned pulsed electromagnetic field helmet been proven to reduce the seizures in patient’s suffering from epilepsy, but it has also been reported to reduce the symptoms associated with depression, migraines, MS, as well as Parkinson’s disease, all without any known side effects or unexpected adverse reactions.
Reiterating Professor Anninos’ developments within the field of magnetic field therapy as a means of treating epilepsy was a study conducted in Gottingen, Germany. Nine patients, who suffered approximately 10 epileptic seizures a week, underwent magnetic field therapy.
The results showed that in three patients there was a 50% improvement in the number of seizures they had a week, three patients showed a 20% – 50% improvement, and one patient had a 20% decrease in the number of fits occurring in a week.
Similar to Professor Anninos study, the magnetic field therapy used to treat epilepsy has to be used with low intensity magnetic fields, as high intensity magnetism could trigger a seizure.

More than 12 million adults in the UK alone live with persistent shoulder or neck pain that makes lifting items, turning their head, and carrying out normal day to day tasks, a strain.
Magnetic therapy has been proven to significantly reduce pain in the neck and shoulders that has been caused by a variety of reasons, such as a sports injury or arthritis.
Although with such a vast and diverse amount of magnetic therapy products available, knowing which product is best to target pain in the neck and shoulders can be difficult.
You can help neck pain with magnetic necklaces, such as the Trion:Z Single Loop Necklace with 8 x 1,000 Gauss Magnets with patented ANSPO technology.
Magnetic necklaces, worn 24 hours a day 7 days a week, can have a positive effect on alleviating neck and shoulder pain. The magnetics on the necklace can help to reduce the inflammation by increasing the blood flow.
An increase in the amount of oxygen in the affected area can help to start to prepare the damage and, in doing so, ease the pain.
